Felonious Mongoose – Hybrid Diesel / Electric Narrowboat

Pb Batteries worked alongside the owner of Felonious Mongoose and his narrowboat builder to ensure that the correct power rating was achieved for both domestic and propulsion use. Careful consideration was given to the cell type used allowing the battery to be partially hidden and minimising it’s impact on space within the boat. An automatic battery topping and gassing system was installed to reduce the maintenance required and increase safety levels. The 48-volt battery is made up of 24 2v cells with a capacity of 875 ampere hours. Charging is taken care of either when cruising using the engine or via a shore line when moored.


The Chelonian narrowboat – Hybrid Diesel/Electric 2v Cells

The Chelonian narrowboat is installed with a diesel / electric hybrid propulsion system. With information gained from the owner about proposed usage, our battery engineer specified a 48-volt narrowboat battery with a capacity of 450 ampere hours. It was possible to choose a cell that could be contained within the cabin steps minimising the impact of the battery on cabin space. Fitment of our automatic battery topping and gassing system ensures that maintenance and safety considerations are taken care of.


The Peruvian Skies – Gel Monobloc to 2 volt cell conversion. (Domestic Power)

When the time came for replacement of the gel monobloc batteries originally used to supply the domestic power supply aboard Peruvian Skies we were able to offer expert advice on the best solution for the  requirements. Twelve 2-volt battery cells of 540 ampere hour with automatic topping and gassing were installed by one of our highly experienced field service technicians. This has given the owner the optimum solution to his domestic power needs and ensures they can enjoy the narrowboat to the full.
